God's Marines

I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire.

I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity. I will either retire in this army at the Rapture or die in this army; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable. If my God needs me, I am there. If He needs me in the Sunday school, to teach the children, work with the youth, help adults or just sit and learn, He can use me because I am there!

I am a soldier. I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to. I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me into this army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out ahead. I will win. My God has and will continue to supply all of my needs.

I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ. Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me and hell cannot handle me. I am a soldier. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me to Captain and then allow me to rule with Him. I am a soldier in the army, and I'm marching claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around.

I am a soldier, marching heaven bound. Here I stand! Will you stand with me? Guess what? If you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior you're already enlisted! Question is, which part of the service are you in:

1. Active Duty: Serving the Lord faithfully, daily, and on duty 24-7?

2. Reserve status: Serving only when called upon or twice a year, Christmas and Easter?

3. Guard status: Backing up the Active Duty group? or

4. AWOL! Absent without the Lord?

THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Did you ever imagine that angels are God’s Marines?

Do you know folks who think of angels as chubby little kids,
or beautiful females in flowing silk robes?
Where do people get those ideas?
Not from the Bible that is for sure.

 See for yourself,
here are a few passages from the Bible describing angels:

He unleashed against them his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility – a band of destroying angels. Psalms 78:49
Sounds a little like a fire team, doesn’t it?

This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 2 Thessalonians 1:7
God’s Word says that the angels are powerful!

I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
 Exodus 33:2

Only one angel was needed to drive all
of these people out of the land.

But David could not go before it to inquire of God, because he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
  1 Chronicles 21:30

David was no wimp, he was a mighty warrior –
but he was afraid of the angel.

And the LORD sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the leaders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king, so he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. 2 Chronicles 32:21
Again, it only took one of God’s Marines
to annihilate the whole army.

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked,
"Are you for us or for our enemies?"

"Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of
the LORD I have now come."  Joshua 5:13-14

I love this because of the way the angel answered.
He was sure of himself, "I have now come."
Period.

There are many more examples in the Bible. Of course, many people think of God also as a gray haired old man, but they are wrong there too. The angels are His Marines, but He is a battlefield Commander-in-Chief.

The LORD will march out like a mighty man, like a warrior He will stir up His zeal; with a shout He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over His enemies. Isaiah 42:13

Now for the good news... I believe we will also be Marines if we believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as our Savior. Here is why I think this:

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:11-16

I believe we are part of that army which rides out with Christ.

"A Soldier's Last Prayer"

Dear Lord, why are we fighting?

How long can this go on?

Each day is filled with misery,

Each night's a lifetime long.

And Lord, I miss my loving wife,

My daughter and my son.

I just can't wait to see them,

When the fighting's over and done.

But Lord, I suddenly feel a pain,

It's deep inside my chest.

And Lord, I'm feeling awful tired,

I need to stop and rest.

The pain seems to be moving,

I feel it in my head,

And God, when I looked down just now,

My shirt was turning red.

Lord tell me what is happening,

Where has the sunshine gone?

And why is that angel saying,

"I've come to take you home." ?
